The 2014 Super GT Series GT-R Nismo GT500

NISMO Unveils Their Super GT Series GT-R GT500 for the 2014 Race Season

The Japanese Super GT series has become one of the most popular and competitive race series on the planet, and while its headlines have been dominated as of late with the new NSX GT500 and the LF-CC GT Racecar, there’s a new player in the Suzuka Circuit, and everyone should be worried. NISMO has been playing with the GT-R for a while, and, while they’re going to release a super-fast production GT-R in the near future, that’s not all they’ve been playing at. Enter the Super GT Godzilla.

Resembling the 545-horsepower 3.8L V6 GT-R we all know and love, the new GT500 NISMO GT-R will be an absolute track monster with one purpose: taking down the Japanese competition. This year’s Super GT series will now function under the same vehicle regulations as the popular German Touring Car Championship, DTM. The changes to these more stringent vehicle regulations should result in a more competitive field than in years past, and the GT-R race-inspired build and AWD performance should give it a serious leg up inside of these engine restrictions.

Official specs of the GT500 GT-R have not yet been released, but, we should expect them to be made public ahead of the vehicle’s first official track appearance at the NISMO Festival at Fuji Speedway on Sunday, December 1st. There, Nissan and NISMO will be highlighting their new monster for the public, and showing the world just what it’s capable of. Next year’s GT Series should be incredibly exciting, that much is for certain, and the LF-CC and NSX 500 are certainly looking over their shoulder right now, worrying about the Nissan beast that’s gunning for them. Race action will kick off officially in Spring of 2014. Here’s to hoping for lots of podiums for the GT-R NISMO GT500 in the year to come.

The Super GT series NISMO GT500 should be a dominant force in the Japanese racing circuit for years to come.
